LASIK Surgery New Hampshire, Portsmouth

DaVinci Bladeless LASIK –Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center was the FIRST center in Northern New England offering an “all laser,” blade-free, LASIK procedure. In fact, the DaVinci Femtosecond laser is one of the newest, and most advanced bladeless lasers on the market today. In traditional LASIK surgery, a thin flap in the cornea is created by a microkeratome-(a mechanical device with precise, sharp blade). The DaVinci femtosecond laser by Ziemer solves the “flap cutting with a blade” by using an extraordinarily fast and ultra precise  laser which, in simple terms, creates a tiny airpocket on the front of the eye.  Bladeless LASIK is a great alternative for patients who previously were unable to get LASIK due to thin corneas or dry eyes. LASIK – Laser assisted In-situ Keratomileusis: combines the proven techniques of both corneal flap and excimer laser surgery, resulting in dramatic results and rapid visual recovery. Effective for correcting most cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Read more about LASIK.

Zyoptix Customized LASIK – Bausch & Lomb’s Zyoptix system involves an extra diagnostic (screening) process extensive enough to let the surgeon see every individual patient’s unique optical characteristics. After a Zyoptix assessment, your surgeon has a broad base of information to decide if you are a good candidate for treatment, and how to plan that treatment for you. PRK – Photorefractive Keratectomy: PRK was the first laser eye surgery approved by the FDA and has been performed for 15 years. PRK differs from LASIK in that no flap of tissue is created prior to resculpting the cornea with the excimer laser. PRK is a good option for patients whose corneas have an unusual curvature or are too thin for LASIK. PRK is also a better option for patients with moderately dry eyes. PRK can treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Read more about PRK.

Cataract Surgery –Cataracts are patches that form in the eye’s crystalline lens and is caused by changes in water and proteins that make up the lens. Over time, cataracts cloud the lens and  do not allow light to reach the retina , producing blurry vision. Today’s cataract surgery is considered painless with minimal recovery time.

AcrySof Toric IOL –AcrySof Toric is a special intraocular lens (“IOL”) created for cataract patients who suffer from astigmatism. It is another option for  individuals over 50 years old who want to correct their astigmatism without undergoing additional surgery such as LASIK.

Crystalens – Crystalens is a specially formulated silicone replacement lens that works naturally with your eye muscles and is designed to allow the lens to move, or accommodate to focus seamlessly on objects near, far, and all distances in-between. We can implant this lens on patients with or without cataracts, and on patients over 50 years of age who desire uncorrected near, intermediate and distance vision.
